Sample 340A. Vertical grain. Insect damaged. Four or five boards. Assembled with pegs. Original frame attached, made of three members and fixed with forged nails inserted through the front, the tips of which are bent back on the reverse of the panel. The central member of the frame acts as a separation for the two painted subjects. The edge of the member on the left side of the panel is slightly bevelled. At this place tool marks and the absence of painting seen elsewhere were noted. On the sides of the panel the frame extends by about 20 mm. Three cross-grain cross-bars: two cross-bars on the upper and lower parts, attached with the nails from the frame; a central 20–30 mm cross-bar, larger than the others, attached with nails inserted through the back. Strips of cloth, more recent, over the joins of the boards. Painted on marouflage cloth. This cloth was also applied over the joins of the frame. A ground layer and paint is applied to the reverse and the edges of the panel and the bars of the frame.

Sample 340B. Four boards. The construction of this panel is similar to 996 with the following exceptions: the width of the outer cross-bars is greater; on the left side the member of the frame extends 20 mm beyond the panel; on the right side the panel and the frame are on the same level.

Samples 487; 1135; 1498. Vertical grain. Extensive insect damage. A layer of wax covers the surface.
